Robert Jennings Reimer

Last night I couldn't sleep.. so I began reading Grandpa Bobs journal that Uncle Todd made copies of. First off, thank you so much for making those.. I learned so much about Grandpa, and Grandma. He has inspired me to be better at keeping a journal... one that is not online. I love this picture of the two of them. They both were so happy in their life. And what an amazing life that was! Grandpa loved Grandma so very much... and I think he made sure she knew that everyday. He often mentioned how getting married to her was the smartest thing he ever did and that every trip they took was another honeymoon. What a wonderful man to have been married to! I also found that he recorded their story on cassette of which.. if any one knows where they are I would love to hear. After 6 plus years (due to the fact that ALS took his voice first) I have found I cannot remember the sound of his voice. I remember, even while he was sick and unable to speak, he would sit and watch M*A*S*H*. I imagine he knew every episode from beginning to end. I used to sit with him while he watched it.. even before he was sick.. and he would always tap your leg, point at the screen.. and laugh. That laugh of his was enough to make me giggle... and thankfully ALS did not take his ability to laugh. He was generally a quiet man.. and would often tap your leg and point when he wanted you to look at something. I have many memories of riding with him and being tapped on the leg and my attention looking out the window at either a plane, bird or something he thought I should see before we passed by it. Driving.. his favorite pass time. I think if it were physically possible he would have traveled the world via road. It's so sad that they are both gone, but I am sure they are enjoying each others company, as well as Aunt Sandy's and all those that have gone before them. What a welcoming party we will have one day. I am so honored to have had the opportunity to get to know this amazing couple.. and to call them my Grandparents. I just wish the whole world would have been able to get to know them as much as I was able to.
